Farzad Amini is a member of the Patent Practice Group. As a registered patent attorney, Farzad’s primary practice area includes all aspects of drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the electrical, mechanical, and computer software fields. Farzad also provides counseling regarding infringement of third party products and services, when a client is seeking to enforce a patent, and renders validity and infringement opinions. As well, he counsels on how to deal with threats of infringement, including how to design around a threatening patent or conduct a reexamination of the patent. Farzad has helped negotiate and draft patent license and patent acquisition agreements, and has provided expert opinions to litigation counsel in patent infringement lawsuits. More recently, Farzad has helped a client distill large patent portfolios and large groups of patents, for purposes of acquisition by the client.
Farzad had several years industry experience as a design engineer prior to becoming a patent attorney, and has knowledge of or patent-related experience of products in the following technical fields: fluid power components, electric motors, antennas, microprocessors, graphics processing, computer network communications, telecommunications, digital cameras (including image sensors and optical components), optical communication devices, illumination devices, electro-acoustic devices, and audio signal processing.
