BSTZ Summer
Associates work hard and play hard, with frequent client interaction
on projects related to patents, trademarks and copyrights. Summer
Associates are intricately involved in drafting patent applications,
assisting with patentability studies, performing patent searches
regarding validity studies, infringement vs. non-infringement issues,
attorney supervised client counseling, assisting in drafting contracts,
searching and reviewing trademarks, or researching copyright issues.
Some of the Summer Associates also have been known to accompany
Partners on business trips as well.

Associates bring strong technical backgrounds and
academic excellence to the program.
In accordance
with the high standards we require from our Summer Associates,
our salaries are among the highest in the nation (see compensation
for Summer Associates and NALP Form).
With an intensive
training element, hands-on client experience and ample opportunity
for social interaction, BSTZ Summer Associates are exposed to
all of the critical factors needed to determine that BSTZ is the
"clear" career choice for legal employment.

Our
Summer Associate Program leads you through an exploration of all
aspects of intellectual property law during an intensive 10-week
program beginning in June and ending in mid-August. Typically
paired with two Partner mentors and one Associate advisor, Summer
Associates are provided with assignments and both written and
verbal feedback in an organized evaluation process.
